Understanding Layers:

The Layers Panel is arguably the most important component for any serious Photoshop work.

  • Non-Destructive Editing: Layers allow you to make changes to one part of an image without permanently affecting other parts.
  • Organization: They let you stack, hide, show, and rearrange elements like images, text, and effects.
  • Key Controls: The panel includes controls for layer visibility (eye icon), layer opacity, blending modes, and the ability to create new layers or groups.

Customization and Efficiency ⚙️

Photoshop’s workspace is flexible, allowing you to tailor it to your specific workflow:

  1. Rearrange Panels: You can undock panels by clicking and dragging their tabs, move them anywhere on your screen, and dock them together in groups or against the edge of the workspace.
  2. Save a Custom Workspace: Once you have a layout you like, you can save it by going to Window > Workspace > New Workspace… This allows you to quickly switch back to your preferred arrangement at any time.
  3. Keyboard Shortcuts: Memorizing shortcuts for frequently used tools and commands (V for Move Tool, B for Brush Tool, Ctrl/Cmd + Z for Undo, etc.) dramatically increases speed and efficiency.
